The National Skills Fund (NSF) is a government learning initiative which enables adults to train and gain skills by studying for a fully-funded (free) Level 3 qualification.
As part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee – the government’s commitment to help everyone gain skills for life – funding of £2.5 billion has been allocated to support adults to access learning programmes across England. Hundreds of courses have been chosen specifically to support economic recovery, boost people’s skills and meet the recruitment needs of employers in a wide range of sectors.
Free Level 3 qualifications are currently available in care, construction, digital, engineering, healthcare, and teaching to anyone aged 19 or over who does not already have a Level 3 qualification or above.*
What’s more, from April 2022, any adult in England earning under the National Living Wage will be able to access the free qualifications, even if they already have a qualification at Level 3 or above. And, in a further boost, financial help may also be able to pay for childcare, travel and other college costs.
