“I enjoy learning through experience and wanted to get into the world of work as soon as possible,” said 20-year-old Eleanor Doughty who is a Level 3 teaching assistant apprentice at St Bartholomew’s Primary School in Penn.
Eleanor added: “I have a passion for working with children and I’m learning how to be an effective teaching assistant and how to adapt to suit the needs of children of all ages and abilities.
“On an apprenticeship you gain so much more from working and gaining practical experience and I find learning this way more beneficial.
“When I’ve completed my apprenticeship, I hope to continue working at the school and become a qualified teacher in the future.”
