After completing the Level 2 Rail Apprenticeship, Jawad Amjad felt like he had been given a second chance. He said: “Before this, I wasn’t doing much, but getting onto the railway has really expanded my knowledge and experience. It is definitely something to give a go and try. It can be a bit tricky at the start because it’s new but it does get easier.
“This has opened up a lot of doors for me. There are so many benefits that come with doing an apprenticeship, I feel like this has given me a second chance of actually proving something and becoming something.
“I am only 20 and one of the youngest out of the group on the railway. Hearing from people who work in the rail industry and all the opportunities it brings really gets you excited. I’m definitely looking to progress and get my Level 3. It really does make this experience even more worth it – you can get a great career out of this!
“Meeting so many people has been great. It has made me want to develop as much as I can. It’s good to hear other peoples journeys and plans gong forward. Going to work is a happy place. Taking this opportunity has definitely been worth a shot!
“The tutors have been wicked and amazing! Any problems you need to speak about, they are always there to listen and support you. I would recommend this 100%. There are a lot of people here to support and teach but also help you get to where you want to be.”
I appreciate everything the college has done for me. This has been a really good experience.
