Manvir Singh – construction apprentice
“I chose an apprenticeship as I’ll gain workplace experience alongside learning and have better knowledge on how to apply theory to practical situations,” said 19-year-old Manvir Singh who started a three-year Level 4 design co-ordinator apprenticeship with housing association Bromford in October 2021.
Manvir, who is combining working for the company with studying for an HNC in construction and the built environment at college and hopes to progress to a degree apprenticeship in the future, added: “It is allowing me to gain new skills by doing a full-time role within a team and to balance working with my college assignments.
“I woek alongside architects to identify ways of improving current house types and am gaining the skills I need for a future role in leading teams.
“I am visited in the workplace by an assessor and am looking forward to working with them to look at what will be required for my end point assessment, as well as with my college tutor as the course progresses.”
