Patrick Butler – former hairdressing apprentice
“A few years after completing my hairdressing apprenticeship, I opened my own salon at the age of 21,“ said Patrick Butler, whose salon – Patrick James, in Stourbridge – celebrates its eight-year anniversary this year.
Patrick, now 29, added: “I chose an apprenticeship as, for me, it was key to have that hands-on salon experience. I learnt all elements of hairdressing and how to run a column of my own, and I loved the salon atmosphere and learnt so much watching great hairdressers around me.
“Aside from the I skills learnt, the encouragement and time taken in training me provided me with the confidence I needed to blossom and become a great hairdresser
“The hairdressing industry suits me perfectly, as it allows me to express myself creatively whilst making people feel beautiful and there are many things I would like to do – Academies, multiple salons, product lines….I truly believe the possibilities are endless if you work hard and keep a good team around you.”
