Sophie Jones – business administration apprentice
“I’m doing a job I love, learning the skills I need for my future career and earning a wage at the same time,” said 19-year-old Sophie Jones, an apprentice at Wolverhampton estate agent Berriman Eaton.
Sophie, who combines working for the company with studying for a Level 3 diploma in business administration at college, added: “I chose an apprenticeship as it’s a good way to get on-the-job training and learn alongside colleagues who have many years’ experience working in the industry.
“I’m gaining an understanding of how the business works and the process of buying and selling property which is preparing me for a career in the industry in the future.
“As a sales negotiator I answer queries from clients and book viewings for people who want to view properties, as well as completing administration tasks such as sending contracts to vendors, putting together sales particulars for sellers and sending out memorandum of sales for properties that are under offer.
“I complete new tasks every day to broaden my skills and have become more confident in what I am asked to do and in talking to members of the public.
“Getting to a dream career doesn’t always mean having to stop on at school to do A Levels and then go to university – an apprenticeship allows you to continue with education and gain skills while getting experience in the career path you chose, broadening your opportunities for the future.”
