If you are thinking about a career in construction but don't have the necessary qualifications to go straight on to a Level 1 course, this introductory multi-skills programme will give you a taste of what working in different areas of industry is like.
You will gain an oversight of the construction industry, learn basic skills in brickwork, carpentry, plumbing and painting, and get hands-on with a range of tools of the trade, helping you to make a decision on which area of the industry you'd like to work in in the future.
What's more, as good English and maths skills will be necessary when working in the construction sector, you will get the chance to improve these are part of your course too.
Also, if you earn less than £30,000 per year and aged 19 or over, you could study this course for FREE!
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however you are required to have:
During this course you can study the following options:
Introducing brickwork skills
Introducing site carpentry skills
Introducing cabinet making skills
Introducing finishing skills (for plastering)
Introducing paint finishing skills
During this course you will:
Gain an understanding of the role of different trades in the construction industry
Develop basic skills in brickwork, site carpentry, painting and decorating, plastering and plumbing
Learn about different tools used for different tasks
Develop your knowledge of health and safety and safe working practices
This is an assignment-based course and there are no exams.
You will be continually assessed by tutors throughout the course to ensure you are understanding what you are learning and whether you need any additional help in a particular area.
