If you're interested in the nail and beauty sector, and want an exciting career in the industry this course will give you the skills and knowledge you need to become a fully qualified nail technician with the additional skills of facials, make-up, tanning, manicures and pedicures
It will help you gain the required knowledge and experience to work in a beauty salon, spa and nail bar, to passengers on a cruise ship or even on a self-employed basis.
You will learn a broad range of skills and provide treatments to clients in our fully equipped industry-standard beauty salons. You will also learn how to deliver first class customer service and promote products to clients, as well as the importance of health and safety in the workplace - all of which will impress future employers and equip you for a dynamic career or the knowledge you need to progression to a higher level of study.
To enhance your learning, you will also get chance to take part in enrichment weeks during which you will be able to learn new techniques, take part in competitions, and complete additional short courses in areas that would be useful to you in the industry, such as hair extensions, ear piercing or eyelash extensions.
You will also complete 30 hours of work experience in a salon and attend lessons to improve your English and maths (or use the time for directed study if you already have Grade 4 or above).
Please note: you will be expected to arrange the work experience placement yourself and will also be required to purchase your own nails and beauty, costing approximately £150, and college-approved uniform, costing approximately £50 - order forms will be provided before the start of the course and financial support may be available to help with these costs.
