If so, this course will teach you the skills you need to provide emergency first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses in a work situation, as well as in daily life.The combination of skills will help first aiders to respond quickly and confidently to injuries and illnesses, as well as recognise when professional medical help is necessary.

Our Emergency first aid at work course meets the Health and Safety Executives requirements for first aid in the workplace and is suitable for first aiders who require their initial EFAW certificate as well as those refreshing their qualification.

This 1-day course ensures learners are able to understand, and where relevant, apply the following skills when helping an adult in the workplace or at home . Learners will develop the skills and confidence to help someone who is:

  • unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

  • unresponsive and breathing

  • having a seizure or anaphylactic shock allergic reaction and eppi pen administration 

  • choking

  • bleeding

  • suffering from shock and internal bleeding

  • suffering from a burn.

By studying this course you will:

  • Learn how to deal with accidents and injuries
  • Learn how CPR works and how to use a defibrillator
  • Understand the correct action to take in an emergency
  • Develop your confidence in dealing with injuries
  • Understand how first aid skills are applied in the work environment, as well as everyday life
  • Improve your personal skills
  • Gain valuable team working and communication skills by taking part in practical activities

Your learning, knowledge and understanding will be continually assessed throughout the course.
