If you want a career in engineering, this course will give you an in depth knowledge of the industry and enable you to learn skills in a work-related environment.
You will develop your understanding of the theory behind engineering principles, engineering technology and technical information and learn through a combination of practical and classroom-based sessions.
This is a two year full-time course - the equivalent of 3 A levels - and, as part of the qualification, you will be required to undertake a work experience placement in a relevant industry setting.
You will train at the new £8.1 million purpose-built Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre at the Wellington Road campus, in Bilston, which boasts dedicated engineering workshops kitted out with industry-standard equipment including fabrication and welding suites, a specialist CAD room featuring AutoCAD and SolidWorks software, CNC milling machines, lathes, 3D printers, mechatronic t-rigs and a laser cutter.
To access this course you are required to have:
Four or more GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including maths and English, and preferably science
As part of the admissions process you will be required to attend an interview with an admissions tutor and complete an online assessment based on engineering principles
