The CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Health, Social Care, Children's and Young People will help you to develop your knowledge and understanding through hands-on learning in a number of interesting areas - including growth and development, food and nutrition and care of children and adults - and you will get the chance to develop your skills further on a short work placement in the local area.
Studying the course will also introduce you to some of the innovative work being done with children and adults.
As part of the course you will get the chance to upgrade your English and maths skills and tutors will also support you if you wish to progress to the next level of study - indeed, past students on this course have progressed to higher levels of study at the college and then moved on to university. And once fully qualified, many of our students have gained employment in the early years' sector in schools and nurseries or adults sector settings such as care facilities or progressed to nursing
To enhance your learning, you will also get the chance to hear presentations from guest speakers working in the sector including early years' professionals, health care professionals and employment agencies.
This is a one year full-time course.

If you want to progress to the Level 2 qualification you will need to successfully complete this level along with the required level for English and Maths.

Throughout the course you will be supported by fully qualified teachers who will provide training in early years, as well as observe and assess your performance in each unit, check and mark your work and give you regular feedback. They will also support you to develop a portfolio of work and put together your CV or personal statement.
We have excellent feedback from our students and many have gained employment, or progressed to further/higher level courses at the college and then moved on to university.
