The UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Music Performance and Production is a one year course, equivalent to four GCSEs, and is a foundation for students who wish to pursue a career in music or music technology.
The course will introduce you to practical skills in sound recording, composing and music technology, including the creation and production of music through the use of computer and sound recording systems and knowledge of the industry.
You will develop skills in sequencing, using software packages to compose, edit and mix music and soundtracks, learn about the music business, research and explore areas of the industry such as record labels, recording studios, live performances and the jobs associated with these. You will also learn how to set up and operate equipment in the college's professional standard recording studios for the capture and processing of sound.
In addition, to enhance your learning, you will complete 30 hours of work experience or work-related activity during the course.
