Engineering Apprenticeships - City of Wolverhampton College

Engineering Apprenticeships

As an employer in the engineering industry, offering apprenticeships is a great way to train new staff and for your business to benefit from an employee with the latest sector skills and knowledge.

We offer a range of apprenticeships to train engineering operatives, engineering technicians, engineering manufacturing technicians,  machining technicians, maintenance and operations operatives and lean manufacturing operatives,  meaning your employee will be equipped with the skills needed to meet the demands of the business.

Apprentices will train in the brand new £8.1million Advanced Technology and Automotive Centre at the Wellington Road campus in Bilston which has been purpose-built for automotive and engineering studies and boasts modern training workshops and a range of industry-standard equipment including robots, 3D printers, laser cutters, lathes and millers and a specialist CAD room featuring AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.

What’s more, the engineering workshops operate as a modern manufacturing plant and incorporate Lean Systems – including improvement processes, elimination of waste and developing smarter working practices – into all processes, meaning apprentices will gain additional knowledge of these important factors during their training.

Throughout their training the apprentice will be supported by college staff who will work closely with you to ensure that the skills they are learning are what is required by your business and that they will achieve their full potential and career aspirations, and meet your business needs.

The college has a dedicated recruitment team to support employers in appointing an apprentice – including advertising vacancies, screening applicants and shortlisting candidates for interview; and with a talent pool of enthusiastic young people waiting for an engineering apprenticeship you can be sure you’ll have access to work-ready candidates and be able to get your apprentice onboard in just a couple of weeks.

And apprenticeships aren’t just for new staff! If you want to upskill and develop existing members of your team they can benefit from apprenticeship training too – email employerenquiries@wolvcoll.ac.uk and a member of the team will contact you to discuss your requirements further.
