Journalism Apprenticeships - City of Wolverhampton College

Journalism Apprenticeships

Offering an apprenticeship is a great way to train staff and for your organisation to benefit from an employee with the latest sector skills and knowledge.

Whether you’re a local or national newspaper, radio station or TV company, or an organisation that needs to employ a public relations professional to increase your profile and improve communication with customers, a journalism apprenticeship will ensure your employee has the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their job role to the standard you require.

Apprentices will combine working for your organisation with studying for the NCTJ diploma in journalism at college. In the workplace they will learn on-the-job by working alongside existing staff, whilst at college they will be taught by tutors who have many years of working in the industry themselves.

What’s more, throughout their training, apprentices will be supported by college staff who will work closely with you to ensure that the skills they are learning are what is required by your business and that they will achieve their full potential and career aspirations, and meet your business needs.

The college has a dedicated recruitment team to support employers in appointing an apprentice – including advertising vacancies, screening applicants and shortlisting candidates for interview; and with a talent pool of enthusiastic young people waiting for a business apprenticeship you can be sure you’ll be employing the right person for the job!

And apprenticeships aren’t just for new staff! If you want to upskill and develop existing members of your team they can benefit from apprenticeship training too – email employerenquiries@wolvcoll.ac.uk and a member of the team will contact you to discuss your requirements further.
