The Protective Services (Police Pathway) Level 3 Extended Diploma is the natural progression from the Level 3 National Foundation Diploma and will further enhance your knowledge and skills to enable to take the next step towards your future career in the police service.
You will build on the skills you gained in your first year of study and learn about major incidents, international perspectives, criminology and your own personal effectiveness in emergency situations, as well as gain an awareness of the service and a range of key transferable skills to meet the operational requirements of the police service in the UK.
The course combines scenario-based learning and simulated service situations, together with lectures and seminars taught by experienced academic staff and retired experienced police officers, and will equip you with learning, confidence and experience that will be valuable in your future career.
A strong emphasis is placed on working effectively in a team and you will take part in a variety of outdoor activities, as well as work on your physical fitness by taking part in sports activities to bring you up to the level required by the police service.
As part of the course you will be required to compete a 30-hour work expereince placement, giving you a taste of real working life and the opportunity to put the skills you learn on the course into practice in the workplace.
Successful completion of the extended diploma will enable you to apply for a Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) or a BSs (Hons) Policing and Intelligence at the University of Wolverhampton or University of Staffordshire.
