Why did you decide to take on an apprentice?
Our apprentice already worked for the county council and the digital marketing apprenticeship has allowed her to develop skills to promote the digital infrastructure that the county is working on with private sector organisations.
What duties does the apprentice carry out?
Our apprentice is responsible for all social media posts connected to digital infrastructure and superfast Staffordshire, as well as engaging with communities to promote the benefits of digital connectivity.
She is also involved in developing and refreshing various websites in the county.
How has the organisation benefited from having an apprentice?
Our apprentice has developed knowledge and experience which is helping with community engagement.
What support did you receive from the college when setting up the apprenticeship?
The college laid out what the course entailed, what learning could be expected and helped set up the apprenticeship. The tutor has been excellent in developing our apprentice’s skills and knowledge, adapts the learning to her experience and is always there to help.
What would you say to other employers who are considering taking on an apprentice?
Having an apprentice helps to bring new ideas and fresh way of thinking to the organisation.
