After finishing school, 19 year old Ben Homer enrolled at the college and completed Level 1 and Level 2 in Automotive. He has now just completed his Level 3 IMI Automotive qualification and is looking forward to starting a career in the industry.
Ben said: “This year I have increased my knowledge of the automotive industry and have learnt about light vehicle maintenance, brakes, steering, suspension, fuel injection, transmission, wheels, tyres, job roles and Health and Safety. The course has prepared me by introducing me to the automotive industry, the different jobs I could do, and about how components work.
“Studying at the college has made me more confident with working on my own as well as in a team. I now have a go at different things. My current plans are to start working in car parts to build up my communication skills and then start working in a garage.
“I would say to anyone that is thinking about starting a collage course to just give it a go even if you have little knowledge about the course, as the tutors will support you to your end goal.”
