“Doing the course has helped me to find a job in an interesting industry,” said 26-year-old Bhuvanesh Mehton who completed a West Midlands Metro sector-based work academy programme earlier this year
He added: “I knew about the upcoming extensions to the West Midlands Metro and felt it was a great opportunity to join the rail industry.
“I learnt about the history of the company, how it operates and its goals and planned extensions, as well as its recruitment process.
“The tutors were incredibly helpful and motivating and supported me with everything related to gaining employment – not just with West Midlands Metro but with other potential employers too – and I’ve gained a better understanding of what I want from my career.
“The course being free and offering a guaranteed job interview is good as it’s helping people to gain employment and I’d say to anyone to take the opportunity to do something new.”
