After studying media and communication at university, 26-year-old Bhuvanesh Mehton spent time during the pandemic searching for jobs, volunteering and upskilling, taking every opportunity to develop skills and help him find a role that he would be happiest in.
Bhuvanesh said: “When I saw the opportunity to join the Midland Metro sector gateway programme – which teaches the skills the company is looking for when recruiting new staff – I thought about what I could bring to the role of a tram driver/customer service agent, not only based on my educational background but also the paid work and volunteering that I’ve carried out over the years.
“The course was full-time for three weeks and prepared me for assessments and an interview with the company which resulted in me being offered a job!”
