20-year-old Chloe Lambert is doing a supported internship through the college’s Futures programme, and is currently on a work placement at a local Coop store.
Chloe said: “I like helping people and at college I’ve been able to support others in my class.
“If there’s anything they don’t understand I can explain it to them, and it makes me feel good to know that they trust me to help them. And if I’m stuck with anything, the tutors help me which has made me feel more confident and positive.
“For my placement, I’m working at a Coop for four days a week. I have to put stock on the shelves, tidy the shop floor, help customers to find what they need and help to pack their shopping – I feel good when I’ve helped someone as I feel as though I’ve achieved something.
“The Futures courses are good for helping you to gain confidence and learn employability skills and interview skills, and I think that lots of people would benefit from them.”
