Businesses from across the region can find out about how to access government funding to help them employ apprentices in a free online workshop being hosted by City of Wolverhampton College.

The college is hosting the session on Tuesday 6 October, 8am-10am, as part of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce’s Business Festival which runs October 5 to 15.

The session will introduce employers to apprenticeships and the funding incentives available and include an explanation of the new apprenticeship standards, the training and assessment process, and how employers can use an online digital portal to find, monitor and manage their apprenticeship training.

The event will also give employers the chance to find out about the range of apprenticeship schemes offered by the college, details of its talent bank of candidates looking for an apprenticeship, and how it can help advertise vacancies and screen applicants on businesses’ behalf.

Jo Baugh, head of employer engagement at the college, said: “Taking on apprentices will assist businesses in post-Covid recovery and we’re delighted to be able to host the online session which will give employers an overview of the scheme, the funding available and the services offered by the college’s dedicated apprenticeship team.”
