Twenty-two-year-old Anthony Cottam first joined the college when he was 19 as the first step towards his dream of becoming a self-employed website designer.
Anthony initially did a Pathways course (now called the Futures programme) before progressing to the Level 1 diploma in information technology in 2017 and the Level 2 extended certificate in computing/IT in 2018.
He said: “I chose the college as I felt that it would enable me to become more independent and I could focus on just one subject to provide me with the skills required for my chosen career.
“I have learnt how to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to edit images and I really enjoyed creating websites to promote courses that the college offers.
“My advice to anyone who thinks that they can’t be successful if they don’t stop on at school, is come to college as there are more choices of courses and qualifications available. Plus, the tutors will help you to choose the correct course and if you require additional learning support, they will provide this too.
Having completed the Level 2 qualification, Anthony will now be returning to college in September to study for the Level 3 BTEC diploma in IT.
