Dawn Cooper, executive officer at Elston Hall Learning Trust, competed the Level 3 Certificate in Human Resource Management at the college in June 2021 and has now progressed to the Level 5 CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management.
Dawn aged 41, said: “I am gaining indepth knowledge of the HR profession, learning the significance and importance of human resource management and increasing confidence in my ability to carry out the HR functions of my role.
“I have nine hours of tutor time each week and regular one-to-one reviews, though the tutor is always available by phone or email if I need support at other times.
“The course is bolstering my knowledge of human resource management as well as supporting my own career development within the organisation and even though it’s a lot of work on top of a full-time job it’s manageable.
“When I returned to studying I hadn’t completed a formal qualification since I was 23 so I was daunted initially, but if you enjoy the subject you’re studying it’s not a burden and it’s never too late to learn new skills.”
