Digital Journalist Apprentice Atif Rashid is making a name for himself as a reporter at BBC Berkshire,
The 26-year-old, who scooped an NCTJ Diploma Exam Award for his exam results, has made viral videos, radio packages and reported at elections as part of his role.
He said: “The great thing about journalism and the apprenticeship is that you’re doing something different all the time, trying out a variety of roles. My main focus is making short videos for social media, filming and editing. I’ve also written copy for online news and helped produce radio shows and made TV and radio packages which have been broadcast.
“Being an apprentice really is the best of both worlds since you gain all the skills, experiences and the qualifications needed to be a successful journalist. The world really feels like your oyster when there are so many opportunities to try out different things – and being in this position means people really work hard to try to make you succeed and be the future innovators of the media landscape.”
