After being disappointed with her grades in her first year of A Levels 19-year-old Kathryn Ellis sought advice on alternative options from the college’s advice and guidance team.
Having always had an interest in working with children Kathryn signed up for the Level 3 early years educator diploma and has now received offers from five universities to study for a BA in Education Studies.
Kathryn said: “As part of the course I’ve done placements in three nurseries and two schools and working in these settings has built up my confidence and enabled me to work with different age groups and adapt my communication styles and activities to their individual needs.
“I’ve gained basic knowledge that I’ll build on at university and had lots of practical experience rather than just sitting in a classroom – I’m really glad that I made the decision to change what I was studying.”
