“Coming to college and doing the ESOL course is one of the best decisions of my life”, said 33-year-old Jana Locmere.
Jana, who moved to the UK nine years ago, added: “I spoke a little bit of English when I first came here and worked in a warehouse, but then I became a mum and spent six years at home with my children not speaking it at all.
“As a result, I was scared to communicate with people and didn’t have any confidence at all, but the course helped me overcome my fears.
“Every day at college has been enjoyable – the tutor motivated me to learn in every lesson and because everyone in the class is from different countries I’ve not only learnt English but I’ve learnt about other cultures too.
“Everyone has fears, but we all have the chance to overcome them – you can’t change your past, you can only influence your future and doing this course has changed me forever.”
