Students at City of Wolverhampton College got the lowdown on how social media influencers are used by companies to promote their brands in the online gaming world through a link-up with an industry-leading esports marketing agency.
Representatives from Ireland-based Feenix Group ran a workshop for students studying for University of the Arts London (UAL) diplomas in games design and esports to give them an insight into how the company operates in one of the world’s fastest growing sectors.
Students heard from experts about how brands integrate into online gaming platforms such as Roblox and other user generated content games, as well as how the company identifies and recruits influencer talent to connect brands with the global esports’ audience,
As part of the workshop, students also found out about the range of employment opportunities in the sector and the skills and knowledge needed for successful future careers.
Dan Clarke, head of service and academic studies at the college, said: “Online gaming is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world and the link-up with Feenix has enables our students to hear from experts in the field and get an insight into the work that goes on to give brands a presence in such a competitive space, as well as finding out about the range of career opportunities available in the sector.”
