Nineteen-year-old Laura Townsend is eagerly waiting for Valentine’s Day as she’ll get the chance to see customers in the college’s Academy restaurant enjoying a romantic-themed evening she has arranged.
Laura, who is studying for a Level 3 diploma in food and beverage service, said: “We have to organise a themed event as one of our modules and I worked with one of the cookery students to develop the menu to a budget I’d been given. It was good experience and I’m really looking forward to seeing customers enjoying themselves on the night.
“Working with real customers in the restaurant can be nerve wracking at first but the tutor is very supportive and my confidence has increased a lot – I was quite quiet when I came here but not anymore!
“I’d say to anyone who thinks that they need to stop on at school to do A Levels that you need to follow what you really want to do – your future is your choice and you need to make the decision that’s right for you – I did and coming to college was definitely the right decision for me.”
