Jamie Leigh Trubshaw runs ‘Together We Can Speak Out’ – a group for people affected by domestic violence – and enrolled for the Counselling Skills Level 2 Certificate to enable her to expand the support available to users of the service
Jamie, aged 32, said: “I chose to study the course so that I can become a qualified counsellor and offer counselling to those affected by domestic abuse who use the charity.
“The college was recommended by a friend who had previously studied here and, as it’s a part time course, it fits around my home life and work commitments.
“I’m learning about different theories and gaining the skills needed to be a counsellor and I have become more self-aware and confident too.
“The tutor is amazing and provides one-to-one support where required and, after gaining the Level 2 qualification I am planning to progress to the Counselling Skills Level 3 diploma and then the Therapeutic Counselling Level 5 Diploma.”
