Joshua Vinters recently completed the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Science and Manufacture Engineering with a focus on injection moulding at the Polymer Training & Innovation Centre.
Joshua said: “The course was excellent, the subject matter and the course topics were great. Even though the focus was injection moulding, we also studied different manufacturing processes such as extrusion, sheet extrusion, blow moulding and vacuum thermoforming.
“The centre itself is fantastic; the equipment on site is modern and very well maintained. There are a variety of different machine manufactures, which gives you a good taste for all the different machines and designs and what is out there.
“The course tutors were very helpful and knowledgeable. My qualification covered health and safety, lean techniques, polymer chemistry and processing techniques. Each subject was covered by individual tutors who were all experts in their fields.
“Once I was ready, I entered the gateway to begin the process of completing my end point assessment. During that time, my tutor Phil Suddaby helped me through every step of the way. He was always available to talk and always helped me if I was struggling. I always had a shoulder to lean on.
“Overall, it was a brilliant experience. We have just enrolled our new apprentice on the very same course at the Polymer Training Centre and we expect him to do very well.”
