Leeane Fox has just completed the first trimester of the Early Years Services (Childcare) Foundation Degree and told us about why she chose the course and the support she has received from tutors.
Leeane, a deputy manager in playcare at a nursery, said: “When I started my career in the early years sector at the age of 30, my intention was for my career to thrive and to progress to university-level study.
“Once I has completed the relevant qualifications, I was then able to apply for the Early Years Foundation Degree and chose the college as it enabled me to fit studying around my work and family life and gave me the flexibility to gain my degree while working in my current role.
“The support from my tutor has been of a high quality – communication is very effective and there is a wide range of support to guide us through any uncertainties.
“When I first started the course, I had no knowledge of how to navigate Canvas (the platform where study material and lesson plans are uploaded) but with the support of my tutor I am more than comfortable with using this now.
“The lessons are very beneficial to the assignments we are set and I gain a lot from attending lessons. I was very nervous at the start of my qualification but, as time goes on, I am beginning to gain more confidence through the support I receive.”
