After initially joining the college to do a course to improve his employability skills, and completing his GCSE maths and English qualifications, 21-year-old Mohammed Shiraz is now enrolled on the two-year Level 3 extended diploma in computing.
Mohammed said: ” The employability course helped me to develop communication skills, the English course improved my writing skills, and the maths course helped me to understand problems and how to use a method to solve them – all skills that enabled me to progress to my computing course.
“I’m learning the importance of computing and how business is linked to computing, as well as project management.
“Since starting at college I have become more confident and can now be more open with my classmates and tutors.
“The courses will give me opportunities after I leave college and I would like to get a job in computing where I can use the skills that I’ve learnt.”
