After completing her GCSEs, 17 year old Olivia MacKay knew she wanted to work in the automotive industry and enrolled on the Level 1 programme. She has now finished this course and is preparing to progress to Level 2.
Olivia said: “On my current course I am learning about gearboxes; how to remove them and their purpose. As well as this, I have also learnt how to remove brake shoes along with a lot of other tasks. After completing my Level 2 qualification next year I would love to start an apprenticeship with a high-end car brand such as Jaguar Land Rover, Audi, Mercedes or BMW.
“Since starting at college I believe I have become a lot braver, and I am able to talk to people more. I am no longer scared to put my opinions across. To anyone thinking about studying at college I’d say go for it. Going to a new college is scary, starting a course where you don’t have a lot of knowledge is also scary, but it’s worth it and you will make friends for life.”
