“I was made redundant and the Job Centre recommended the course at City of Wolverhampton College. I have never worked on the track before and this course gave me the opportunity to learn all aspects required, making sure me and the rest of the group were all ready and up to speed in what we needed to know and ready to work. We learnt about track maintenance, track induction, personal track safety and we were taught to look out for others as well.

“I really enjoyed the course and have learnt lots of new skills. The NIS trainers who I met, the friendships I have made – its all been amazing. Everybody needs help sometimes, so we all worked as a team and we all got through. The support is really good.

“Being guaranteed an interview at the end of the course is marvelous. You don’t often get that opportunity. A secure job that can last you until retirement with good money and good experience is great.

“It’s never too late to learn a new skill. I would 100% recommend this course t anybody and would tell new and current students to try your best, keep revising and you will get there. I would also like to thank all of the lecturers, the trainers and the people who gave us the opportunity to go back to work and secure a job.”
