“I’d been out of work for 14 months, but in my first interview I was offered a job!” said 42-year-old Yeukai Makinzi who attended a Midlands Metro sector gateway programme  and is due to start a new career as a tram driver/customer service agency with the company.

Yeukai added: “I found getting back into work very difficult as I was spending hours filling in application forms but I never got any replies from employers and none resulted in an interview.

“The course was great and the classes were very interactive. I improved my literacy and numeracy skills, perfected my CV writing and my confidence and self-esteem increased which all helped when I had my interview with the company at the end of the course.

“I would recommend this course to anyone who may be feeling stuck or facing challenges finding work – when I was offered the job I felt very excited and will be forever grateful for all the support the college has given me.”
