The College is here to support you and you have access to counselling services and safeguarding support as well as weekly meetings (1.5 hours per week) with your Personal Tutor. In addition to this any young person in care or leaving care will also have access to:
If you are 16-18 you can get 1-2-1 financial advice for support with claiming a full bursary which is paid monthly, plus support with other costs including travel, lunch and equipment.
You will have a monthly financial health check to monitor your financial support.
The College also have equipment which it can loan you for the duration of your course to support with your studies, eg laptop.
The College can support you during your educational journey with a Progress Mentor who will help guide you during your time at College, offering supporting and advice to help you achieve your goals.
You can access the College’s award winning career guidance service and meet with a member of the team to discuss your career plans and the best route to achieve your ambitions.
There will be a dedicated Student Rep to represent all young people in care or leaving care. This Rep will contribute to the College Learner Voice where issues can be raised with the College’s management team to help shape and improve the College and the student experience. All young people in care or leaving care will also be invited to the College’s annual Student Conference.
As a City of Wolverhampton College student you will have access to the College gym, beauty and hair salons and the restaurant facilities at a reduced rate or no charge. You will also be able to attend College shows including musicals and art exhibitions.
